On Thursday, November 9, 2023, Edison Foard Construction broke ground on an exciting new expansion project for the Hilton Head Island Airport.
Hilton Head Island is one of the most beautiful vacation destinations in the United States—and its popularity continues to grow year after year.
In 2021 alone, Hilton Head Island Airport serviced 388,819 travelers. However, the airport needs to be expanded significantly to continue to accommodate the growing number of travelers and to encourage economic growth on the island.
“We’re excited to be a part of [the airport expansion].” Said David McConnell the Director of Business Development at Edison Foard Construction. “It’s a long time coming for the citizens of Hilton Head.”
The new construction will comprise new boarding gates, a new security checkpoint, and 25,000 square feet of new terminal space and site land improvements.
Edison Foard Construction is no stranger to aviation projects. The firm has worked with the Charlotte Douglas International Airport for thirty consecutive years. The Hilton Head Airport Expansion project will begin in early 2024 and is estimated to be completed in two years.
